Hollywood has proven that braids are a hair trend that lasts all year long, but the red carpet has been sending us a message: crown braids are in for Summer! In the last month alone, we have spotted a handful of ladies rocking this plaited up ‘do. Jessica Stam (above) split her braids down the middle for a halo effect that is fresh and fun, but some other celebrities are taking a more traditional approach. Braided hairstyles are the perfect choice for any occasion for a handful of reasons; they keep your hair off your face, they transition flawlessly from work to the dinner table, and they’re incredibly beautiful. Her hair was split into three sections, with both sides slicked down to enhance the texture of the braids that started at the crown of her head all the way to the nape of her neck. Since the spotlight was all on Kate’s hair, makeup artist Daniel Martin kept the palette low-key using SK-II Facial Treatment Foundation for a radiant complexion and the lighter shadows in the Dolce & Gabbana Eye Shadow Quad in Femme Fatale (not yet available in Australia) palette. Selena Gomez was playing favourites with her hairstyles last week. The singer was out and about in New York sporting three different plaits, and each style was much different from the last. While performing in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Selena showed off a delicate braid on her scalp, which went gorgeously with her waves. On Thursday, she wore two different braids. She channeled Janet Jackson with a scrunchie and high ponytail on her way to the Late Show With David Letterman but was also seen sporting a loose, boho side braid earlier that day. All three are completely different, but which do you like best?
